Chandigarh:- Due to rain in many parts of Punjab and Haryana, the day temperature has dropped sharply, due to which the entire region has been gripped by a cold wave. The maximum temperature in Chandigarh, the common capital of both the states, dropped by four degrees below normal to 15.5 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Department, rains occurred in many districts including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda and Mansa in Punjab, while cities like Ambala, Hisar, Gurugram and Panchkula in Haryana also experienced cloudiness. The day temperature in many areas of both the states remained between 15 and 17 degrees Celsius, which is five degrees below normal.
Looking at the temperature data, Gurugram in Haryana was the coldest place with a minimum temperature of 5.8 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, Ludhiana remained the coldest in Punjab with a minimum temperature of 7.7 degrees Celsius. Although a slight increase in night temperatures was seen earlier, Tuesday's rains have increased the coolness during the day. According to the Meteorological Department's estimates, the cold weather may intensify in the coming days due to this rain, which is likely to affect normal life.
