Chandigarh 30th November 2025: The State Election Commission has been informed by the Rural Development and Panchayats Department that in view of the notification dated 28.11.2025 issued by the Local Government Department, 15 villages adjoining Municipal Corporation, Mohali have now been included in the limits of Municipal Corporation, Mohali.
The Rural Development and Panchayats Department has clarified that due to this notification, 15 Gram Panchayats of Panchayat Samiti, Mohali have now been taken out of the jurisdiction of the concerned Panchayat Samiti/Zilla Parishad Mohali. Since there has been a significant change in the boundaries of Panchayat Samiti, Mohali and Zila Parishad, Mohali, the Rural Development and Panchayats Department is now to reorganize this block and the Zila Parishad area afresh.
On the recommendation of the Rural Development and Panchayats Department and the Deputy Commissioner, Mohali, the Commission has decided that the election of members of Panchayat Samiti, Mohali and Zila Parishad, Mohali is postponed till these zones are reorganized by the Rural Development and Panchayats Department. It is clarified that the election of members of Panchayat Samiti, Derabassi, Panchayat Samiti, Kharar and Panchayat Samiti, Majri will be held as per the issued schedule.
