Sangrur, 21 August:- Member of Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission Shri Gulzar Singh Bobby today visited Ambedkar Nagar and Sundar Basti of Sangrur and took on-spot stock of problems related to sewerage, drinking water and cleanliness being faced by area residents. On this occasion he issued strict directions to officers of concerned departments to immediately and permanently solve problems of people.
Talking to media Shri Gulzar Singh Bobby said that many written complaints related to sewerage problem, leakage in drinking water supply and other basic facilities were registered with Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission by people.
Taking these complaints seriously he himself reached spot and knew difficulties of people and obtained information about problems from concerned officers.
On this occasion officers of concerned departments Sewerage Board, Water Supply and Municipal Council Sangrur were also called on spot. SDO, EO and JE including Xen also remained present. Commission member made clear to officers that any kind of negligence in providing basic facilities to people will not be tolerated.
Giving 15 days time Shri Bobby directed concerned departments that during this period cleaning and de-silting of blocked sewer lines in Ambedkar Nagar along with completely repairing all leakages present in drinking water supply lines. He said that possibility of mixing of dirty water due to leakage of water cannot be allowed to remain at any cost, because with this health of people can be affected.
He also directed officers to run special cleanliness drive in streets and surrounding area and wherever there is problem of sewerage jam, immediate action be taken.
During this Executive Officer of Municipal Council Sangrur Shri Ashwani Kumar along with team visited and took detailed stock of problems. He said that work of de-silting will be got done to remove problem of sewer chock. Apart from this sanitation teams have also been asked to take immediate action for special cleaning of streets of area.
EO of Municipal Council Shri Ashwani Kumar assured Commission member that it will be ensured to complete required works within prescribed 15 days time.
Commission member also directed that after completion of work detailed report along with pictures of work done by concerned department be presented to Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission. Along with this written satisfaction/ satisfaction be also obtained from area residents regarding completion of work, so that it can be ensured that real and permanent solution of problems of people has been done.
Shri Gulzar Singh Bobby said that main objective of Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission is along with protecting rights of people related to Scheduled Castes to ensure basic facilities and justice to them. He made clear that any kind of negligence in solution of genuine problems of common people will not be tolerated. If problems are not solved within prescribed time then action as per rules will be taken by Commission.
He said that providing basic facilities like clean drinking water, smooth sewerage management and cleanliness to people is responsibility of concerned departments and no laxity should be used in this.
