Nawanshahr:- Rural Workers Union (PMU) has demanded immediate cancellation of the notification issued by the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab to implement the Central Government's **VBG Ram Ji** law.
The union's district leader Kamaljit Sanawa, area Nawanshahr president Kiranjit Kaur and Prem Singh Shahabpur said that the Modi government of the Center and the Mann government of Punjab are continuously attacking the rights of the working class. They alleged that the Central government is affecting the employment of crores of laborers and employees of the country by abolishing MGNREGA and bringing the Developed India Ji Ram Ji law.
The leaders said that according to the notification issued by the Rural Development and Panchayat Department of Punjab, this scheme has been announced to be implemented in Punjab from July 1. They claimed that this is the decision of the government which had earlier passed a resolution not to implement this law in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. He said that the latest notification is evidence of the government going back on its own earlier decisions.
The union leaders also questioned how the government would provide the required 40 percent share in this scheme when the economic situation of Punjab is already under pressure. They alleged that the Mann government has already increased the working hours for workers working in shops and business establishments from 8 to 12 and has also violated the freedom of expression by registering police cases against journalists and RTI activists.
The PMU leaders announced that on June 30, a delegation of the union would meet the Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Punjab demanding cancellation of the notification issued regarding VBG Ram Ji.
