Garhshankar, August 28: Rotary Eye Bank and Corneal Transplant Society organized a lecture on the topic ‘Eye Donation–Body Donation: The Greatest Donation’ at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, as part of Eye Donation Fortnight. The programme was held under the leadership of President J.B. Bahl and Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera.
The lecture was organized under the arrangements of the college NSS Unit. During the programme, various speakers shared their views on eye donation, body donation and organ donation, and said that donating eyes and the body to give life to others is the greatest form of donation.
The speakers motivated the students to pledge to donate their eyes after death and encouraged them to spread awareness about eye donation among people in their surroundings. While explaining the process of eye donation, the speakers also motivated the students to search for patients suffering from damaged corneas and become part of the humanitarian service being carried out by the organization to provide corneal transplants to such patients free of cost.

Prof. Lakhwinderjit Kaur thanked the guests on behalf of the college. Dr. Naresh Kumari, Coordinator, NSS Unit, conducted the stage proceedings. Prof. Arvinder Singh Arora, Prof. Manbir Kumar, Dr. Navjot Kaur, Prof. Amandeep Kaur and Prof. Zarina Begum were also present on the occasion.
