Chandigarh, June 16:- The 42nd meeting of the National Capital Region Planning Board was held on Tuesday at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Shri Manohar Lal. Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini, Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister A.K. Sharma and Rajasthan Urban Local Bodies Minister Shri Jhabar Singh Khara attended this meeting.
Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini, while giving information to the media after the meeting, said that important issues related to the development of the National Capital Region were discussed in detail in the meeting. It was decided in the meeting today that no change will be made in the regional scope of the National Capital Region and the current boundary will remain intact. The Chief Minister said that the Regional Plan-2041 of the National Capital Region was discussed in the meeting. In this, NCR Various aspects related to the future development of the region, urban planning, environmental protection, infrastructure development and sustainable growth were discussed in depth.
A sub-committee of senior officials of the Central Government and the respective State Governments (Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi) has been constituted to finalize the Regional Plan-2041. This sub-committee will submit its final report to the Board by August 15, 2026.
The Chief Minister informed that the next meeting of the National Capital Planning Board will be held in Gurugram (Haryana) in December 2026. In today's meeting, an important decision was taken to develop four new greenfield cities along with RRTS (Rapid Rail Transit System). All the member states of the Board will send the development plan of one new greenfield city each. These cities to be developed under the name of 'NAMO City' will be developed as modern, eco-friendly and self-reliant urban centres.
Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini said that these decisions of the National Capital Planning Board will ensure balanced and strong development of Delhi-NCR region. Haryana Government is giving top priority to the development of NCR and will take forward the greenfield cities and RRTS projects at a fast pace.
On this occasion, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Rajesh Khullar, Chief Secretary of Haryana Anurag Rastogi, Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Government of India Srinivas Katikithala, Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways V. Umashankar along with senior officials of the states related to the NCR region were present.
