Zirakpur:- Punjab’s Mohali district police have busted a gang of fake medicines in a major operation in the Pabhat Godam area of ??Zirakpur. Late in the evening, police teams raided two factories where illegal and substandard allopathic and ayurvedic medicines were being manufactured on a large scale.
Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the police immediately called the officials of the Food Safety and Drug Control Department. During the investigation, a large quantity of fake allopathic medicines, ayurvedic products, food supplements and beauty products were seized from these factories. Surprisingly, these factories were being run without any valid license and in a very dirty environment.
The initial investigation has revealed shockingly that samples from one of these factories had failed earlier, due to which it had been fined Rs 16 lakh. Despite this, illegal activities continued here for the last several years, giving the administration a black eye.
Six-hour long operation and then sealing
The Drug Control Department team conducted an in-depth investigation for about six hours and collected dozens of samples of products. After the investigation, one factory that did not meet the necessary standards was sealed on the spot. Officials said that this factory was running completely illegally and the products manufactured here could be very dangerous for human health.
