Dasuha- A grand literary event was organized by the Hoshiarpur unit of the Progressive Writers' Association Punjab under the leadership of District President Professor Baldev Singh Balli and General Secretary Principal Navtej Gardiwala with the aim of taking literature from village to village at the Government Elementary School in Bodal village. In which Dr. Sukhdev Singh Sirsa, General Secretary of All India Progressive Writers' Association and Dr. Sarabjit Singh, President of Punjabi Sahit Academy Ludhiana attended as special guests.
In his address, he said that today corporate houses have started work with the intention of capturing the economy of India. Not only this, but new formulas are being invented with the intention of destroying Punjabi and the new language policy is being implemented in such a way that the coming generations are deprived of their mother tongue. Their education is being made in such a way that the business of corporate houses continues to flourish at all costs. It is the duty of a writer to speak for the interests of the people and not to become a pawn of the governments.
To silence the voices of writers who speak the truth, they are being sent behind bars by the governments. In order to know the truth of the times, there should be a bookshelf in every home. Every Punjabi should contribute his due contribution in the promotion and dissemination of the mother tongue. Especially, teachers and school principals should provide interesting books and children's magazines to the students according to the age group. When interest in literature is created among the children, then library culture will automatically start emerging.
While welcoming everyone, Prof. B. S. Balli said that Bodal village is the birthplace of Dr. MS Randhawa, the creator of the Punjabi language, culture and nation, and this village has produced ragis like Bhai Gulbagh Singh and Dilbag Singh and lyricists like Charan Singh Safri. P.S., who is included in the presidium. Navtej Garhdiwala, Surinder Pal, Shiromani Sahityakar Baljinder Mann, Dr. Armanpreet Singh, Professor Kewal Kaloti and Madam Niranjan Kaur gave a message to everyone to love books. On this occasion, Gurpreet Singh Safri, a member of the patriotic families of the area and a family member of the writers, was honored.
School students from near and far Amanjot Singh, Jasmine, Amanjot Kaur, Niwaran Singh, Prabhjot Kaur, Avneet Kaur, Harnoor Kaur, Anantpreet Kaur etc. forced the audience to think through their poems and speeches. These students were given sets of books by Nikkian Karumbalan Prakashan Mahilpur as an honor.
Editor of Nikkian Karumbalan magazine Baljinder Mann said that unless we connect children with healthy and interesting literature through our mother tongue, the Punjabi language cannot be promoted and spread. The event was attended by writers Jeevan Chandeli, Samarjit Singh Shammi, lyricist Sukhjit Jhansawala, as well as the local panch, sarpanch, students, teachers and literature lovers.
