Chandigarh:- A special function was organized by Nawan Panth Nai Soch Sansthan Mohali and Vishwa Punjabi Prachar Sabha Chandigarh to encourage child poets at Community Centre Sector-43, Chandigarh. On this occasion, the book ‘Bal-Kavi Kyari’ edited by Pr. Bahadur Singh Gosal and co-edited by Baljinder Kaur Shergill was launched.
The chief guest of the function was Dr. Hanwant Singh (Producer and Anchor, PT Channel). The special guests included Mrs. Prem Lata, Prem Vij (Journalist), Malkit Singh Saini (Director), Surjit Singh Dhir (Former Chief Engineer). The function was presided over by Mr. K.K. Sharda. The presiding committee included Pr. Gosal, Baljinder Kaur Shergill, Rajesh Rai (Ex-IRS), Dr. Ravinder Singh and Hardeep Virk were also present.
The event began with the singing of religious songs by Surjit Singh Dhir. Prin. Gosal, while welcoming the guests, said that the book includes the works of 60 child poets and this event has been organized to honor them and their guide teachers. He said that the presence of child poets from six districts of Punjab shows the success of this effort.
The book was launched to the public amidst thunderous applause. Renowned litterateur Bhupinder Bhagomajria, while reading the pamphlet of the book, highly appreciated the creativity of the children. In the second phase, Jagtar Singh Jog gave a spiritual touch to the atmosphere by singing a religious song by Prin. Gosal. The child poets won applause from the audience by reciting their works.
Expressing his views, Prem Lata inspired the children to continue creating meaningfully. The chief guest Dr. Hanwant Singh called the book a “poetic bouquet” and praised the child poets and editors. Mr. K.K. Sharda described such initiatives as important for the society and assured full support.
The organization honored the child poets with gifts and stationery kits, while the teachers were presented with shawls and books. Women teachers were given special honors with phulkaris. Hardeep Virk played the role of stage secretary. Finally, Baljinder Kaur Shergill thanked everyone.
