SAS Nagar, November 27:- Regarding the demand to remove the liquor vend and premises near Anaj Mandi Kharar, the residents of Baba Fateh Singh Nagar and Golden City submitted a memorandum to ADC Geetika Singh and the Deputy Commissioner Mohali demanding that the illegally opened liquor vend and premises built near the Anaj Mandi gate be closed.
The memorandum states that due to this vend and premises, the residents of the city and passers-by have to face a lot of difficulty in coming and going. There is a lot of alcohol in normal times and it becomes very difficult for women to pass through here. The letter states that this is the only route to the said colonies, so this vend should be removed from this place.
On this occasion, Progressive Front Punjab President Harminder Singh Mavi said that on one hand the government is running a “Youth Drug Free Punjab” campaign. On the other hand, illegal liquor shops are opening in large numbers, which are not being heard. He said that if these shops are not closed soon, then all the residents of the city and all the leaders and office bearers of Progressive Front Punjab will launch a big struggle against it.
On this occasion, Progressive Front Punjab Chairman Advocate Darshan Singh Dhaliwal said that the government has not taken any proper action to make Punjab drug free, they only keep making themselves public by running campaigns for food supply. He said that for the last several decades, the political leaders of the state have been doing illegal liquor business in collusion with the corrupt elements of the state.
He said that if these illegal shops are not closed soon, they will start a legal battle. On this occasion, Gurwant Singh, Darshan Singh Khera, Gurmail Singh, Gurdarshan Singh, Nachhattar Singh, Charan Singh Longowal, Jathedar Fauja Singh, Joginder Singh Manheri etc. were present, among others.
