PGIMER Chandigarh- Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology Division, department of Internal Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh is organizing a one day CME titled ‘Current perspective in Rheumatology’ at PGIMER Chandigarh on Sunday March 16th, 2025. The CME will be inaugurated by Prof Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh who will be the chief guest of the function.
Prof SD Deodhar memorial lecture will be delivered by Prof Pradeep Bambery, ex Chief of Rheumatology at PGIMER, Chandigarh and now a Senior consultant Rheumatologist at Bundaburg Australia. The lecture is in the memory of late Prof SD Deodhar who after returning from his training and stint in USA and UK started the first Rheumatology Clinic in any government hospital in India at PGIMER in 1971. He is one of the founders of rheumatology in India. Prof Bambery is a recognized all over the world for his work in vasculitis and sarcoidosis.
The faculty includes speakers who are predominantly PGI alumni from Indian and abroad. There would be sessions on disease conditions like RA, SLE, Scleroderma and ANCA associated vasculitis. The main focus of this CME is to discuss common and topics relevant in day to day clinical practice to be discussed amongst Consultants and medical students of the region. There are going to be some hot topics for debate over best treatment choices of RA , SPA, AAV and SLE. The talk on management of ANCA associated vasculitis will be delivered by Prof Aman Sharma who was the convener of IRA guidelines on ANCA associated vasculitis and is also the organisning secretary of this CME. Treatment of RA, Scleroderma and SLE will be tackled by Dr Varun Dhir , Dr Shefali Sharma and Dr Shankar Naidu.
There is a dedicated session on PET and conventional imaging to be dealt by Rajender Kumar and Prof Anindita Sinha. There will also be a session on gastrointestinal involvement in IgG4 disease and sarcoidosis by Prof Saroj Sinha. There has been an overwhelming response to this CME and the registration had to be closed after registration of 260 delegates. The faculty and students of PGIMER, GMCH Sec32 and regional state medical colleges have registered for this CME.
