Chandigarh, January 30:- Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Mr. Anil Vij said that the government is continuously taking concrete steps to make the public transport system in the state safer, more modern and passenger-friendly. He clarified that in future, all the private bus drivers to be operated under various schemes will be subjected to mandatory driving test so that there is no compromise with the safety of the passengers.
Mr. Vij also said that for the convenience of the people of Haryana, more than 400 electric vehicles will soon be introduced in the state. Necessary processes in this direction are in progress. He said that giving incentives to electric vehicles is not only an important step towards environmental protection, but it will also reduce dependence on fuel and there will also be a significant reduction in pollution.
The Energy Minister was interacting with media persons after chairing a meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee in Sirsa today.
Giving detailed information on the reforms being made in the transport sector, Mr. Anil Vij said that the bus fleet of Haryana Roadways will be further strengthened in a phased manner, which will ensure better connectivity between rural and urban areas. Along with this, state-of-the-art tracking systems are being installed in all Roadways buses, so that passengers can get accurate information about the timings and status of the buses.
He said that digital screens will be installed at all the bus stands in the state, on which information about the arrival and departure of buses will be displayed on the lines of an airport. This will relieve the passengers from unnecessary waiting and make their journey more organized.
Apart from this, a special mobile app is also being developed, through which passengers will be able to see the live location of the buses and plan their journey better. He clarified that it will take some time to fully implement all these digital facilities, but the government is committed to completing it in a time-bound manner.
Mr. Vij also said that the entire system of movement of buses and their in-out at bus stands is being strengthened through digital. This will ensure that buses are operating properly on the specified routes or not. If a bus deviates from the prescribed route or does not reach the bus stand on time, its information will be immediately available in the online system. He said that he himself will also regularly monitor this entire system, so that transparency and accountability remain in transport services.
The Energy Minister said that the government's aim is to make the transport system in Haryana safe, reliable and modern, so that the common citizens can get the benefit of convenient, timely and affordable travel. He expressed confidence that with these reforms, the state's transport system will move forward in a new direction.
