Chandigarh, March 11:- Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao on Wednesday made a surprise inspection of Civil Hospital Panchkula in Sector-6 and visited various wards, interacted with the patients who came there for treatment and took feedback on the health services. During this, she gave necessary directions to the Director General Health Department and the Civil Surgeon.
During the inspection, the Health Minister inspected various wards of the hospital including Emergency, Labor Room, NICU Ward, OPD, ICU, ENT, Orthopedic Department. She interacted with the patients and their families present in the hospital and sought information about the treatment, medicines and other facilities. Most of the patients expressed satisfaction with the behavior and services of the doctors and nursing staff.
Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao also inspected the Janaushadhi Kendra run under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana located in the hospital and inquired about the medicines available there. She directed her staff to check the availability of medicines by sending them to various counters.
During the inspection, the Health Minister did not seem satisfied with the cleanliness and security management of the hospital. She found that despite the deployment of about 16 to 17 sanitation workers in the hospital, a clear record of their work place and duty was not available. On this, she instructed the officials to immediately improve the system and said that in future, it is also being considered to give it on PPP mode to improve the cleanliness system.
Aarti Singh Rao said that cleanliness should be the top priority in the hospital. He directed the Civil Surgeon to improve the air conditioning system in the hospital in view of the summer, so that patients coming from far away for treatment do not face any inconvenience.
During the inspection, he also reviewed the security arrangements of the women's ward in particular and said that the safety of women patients in the hospital is top priority. He directed the hospital administration to appoint more security personnel as required in other sensitive areas including the women's ward so that women can get a safe and respectful environment.
The Health Minister also inspected the hospital's nursery (newborn ward) and saw the care arrangements for the children admitted there. During this, he took a newborn baby in his arms and blessed him and expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the doctors and nursing staff working there.
During the inspection, a complaint of some patients being prescribed medicines from outside the hospital was also brought to the notice of the Health Minister. Taking immediate action on this, he summoned three doctors and gave strict instructions to the hospital administration that the available medicines should be provided to the patients from the hospital itself. He clearly said that prescribing medicines to patients from outside without proper reason will not be accepted.
On the problems related to the hospital building, he said that there has been a complaint of water dripping from the roof in some wards. He said that in this regard, the Public Works Minister Mr. Ranbir Gangwa will be appealed to and the repair work will be done soon. He also directed the officials to start services in the new building of the hospital as soon as possible.
The Health Minister said that as per the instructions of Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini, special attention is being paid to cleanliness, better health services and especially the safety of women in all government hospitals of the state. He also directed the Director General, Health Department to make the detailed list of sanitation workers deployed in the hospital available soon.
Talking to the media, the Health Minister said that it is the moral responsibility of doctors and health workers to examine and treat patients with complete honesty. He clearly said that any negligence in the examination and treatment of the health of the people will not be tolerated. On this occasion, Director General of the Health Department Dr. Manish Bansal, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mukesh Kumar along with doctors and officials from various departments of the hospital were present.
