Sangrur, June 22:- As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Sangrur, Poonamdeep Kaur, a meeting of the District Level Task Force regarding Polio was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Shri Ankur Mahindru and under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Sangrur Dr. Amarjit Kaur.
On this occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) instructed the representatives of all the departments present in the meeting to provide full support to the Health Department in this work so that no child between the age of 0 and 5 years in the district is deprived of polio drops. He appealed to all social service organizations and the media to provide maximum support to the Health Department in this campaign.
He said that although polio has almost been eradicated from the country, there is still a fear of polio among people coming from neighboring countries, in view of which the government started this campaign.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner specifically said during this meeting that during this campaign, people should also be made aware about HPV vaccine.
Amarjit Kaur, Civil Surgeon, Sangrur said that this pulse polio campaign is being run from 28 to 30 June 2026. Under this campaign, 703 polio booths, 797 teams and 111 supervisors have been set up in the district to cover about 87,540 children between the ages of 0 and 5 years.
On this occasion, Dr. Anju Singla, District Immunization Officer Sangrur, told during the meeting that any child between the ages of 0 and 5 years, even if he has taken routine drops, even if the child is sick, even if he has diarrhea, he must be given two drops of polio. All the senior medical officers of Sangrur district and representatives of various departments were present on this occasion.
