Nawanshahr- Shri Guru Ramdas Seva Society Nawanshahr planted more than 50 saplings on the divider of Banga Road, Nawanshahr in memory of all the martyrs of June 1984 and on the occasion of Environment Day.
The plantation drive was started by Jathedar Baba Narang Singh Ji, Chief Sevadar of Guru Manji Sahib Banga Road, Mrs. Balwinder Kaur, President of Municipal Committee, Mr. Rajan Arora, President of Arora Sabha, Nawanshahr and members of Shri Guru Ramdas Seva Society, Nawanshahr by planting various types of saplings.
On this occasion, Society President Sukhwinder Singh Thandi and Amarjit Singh Khalsa said that today the Society celebrated World Environment Day on the occasion of World Environment Day and planted saplings in memory of all the martyrs who were martyred during the Ghalughara of June 1984. He said that the memories of the martyrs are unforgettable. Like every year, this year also tribute was paid to the martyrs by planting saplings and their martyrdom was saluted.
He said that World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June all over the world with this objective so that people living on this earth can be made aware about the environment. We can save the polluted environment by planting more and more trees, reducing pollution and stopping plastic. On World Environment Day, everyone should take a pledge to protect the environment. We should follow the path shown by our Gurus and perform our duties towards air, water and earth.
On this occasion, Mr. Rajan Arora said that glaciers are melting due to global warming and temperature is increasing because day by day the environment is getting polluted, trees are being cut and the use of plastic is increasing due to which people are falling prey to diseases. And he said that we should walk and cycle at least one kilometer as this will save petrol and diesel and at the same time our body will also remain healthy and the environment will be less polluted, so we should plant as many trees as possible to purify the environment.
He appreciated the efforts being made by Shri Guru Ramdas Seva Society, Nawanshahr for environmental protection. On this occasion, the newly appointed Committee President of Committee House, Nawanshahr, Mrs. Balwinder Kaur ji said that the earth's temperature is increasing due to the felling of trees, for which we all should plant a tree and take care of it.
It is very important to plant as many trees as possible and take care of them to keep the environment clean and green. The society has done a commendable job by planting trees on dividers in Nawanshahr for the last three years. They have not only planted the trees but also taken care of them, which is a very good gift to the city. The entire team of Committee House Nawanshahr is always with them in their efforts to make the city beautiful.
On this occasion Jathedar Baba Narang Singh, Councilor Mr. Balwinder Kumar, Sukhwinder Singh Thandi, Amarjit Singh Khalsa, Pritpal Singh Haveli, Kuldeep Singh, Inderjit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Sian, Harmanjit Singh, Jatinder Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Harpreet Singh, Rajvansh Singh Bedi, Paharneet Kaur, Rehmat Kaur, Amrik Singh, Manpreet Singh, Kamalpreet Singh, Azad and Sumit Singh etc were present.
