Chandigarh, November 3, 2026:- Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh (Deemed to be University), organised a training session on “Introduction to the Internet of Things (IoT)” at its Computer Centre. The session was conducted under the RAMP Project as part of the DTE Punjab Diploma Students Training Programme, being organised from November 2 to 5, 2026, through the Workshop and Skill Development Centre, PEC.
The training programme is being conducted under the leadership of Prof. Ravinderjit Walia, Principal Investigator and Organiser. The IoT session was coordinated by Dr. Sanjay Batish, Course Coordinator, with Mr Sushil Kumar and Mr Prabh Simran Singh Bindra assisting as Co-Coordinators.
The objective of the session was to familiarise diploma students with emerging technologies through a combination of theoretical learning and practical training. Students were introduced to the fundamental concepts of IoT, its architecture, key components and applications in everyday life and industries.
Special emphasis was placed on Raspberry Pi, sensors and IoT hardware components. Through practical demonstrations, students learned how different sensors function, how they are interfaced with Raspberry Pi, and the basic principles of collecting and processing data from connected devices.
The session also highlighted the applications of IoT in areas such as smart homes, healthcare, agriculture, industrial automation and smart cities. The interactive teaching approach helped students understand how physical devices, sensors and computing platforms work together to develop intelligent and interconnected systems.
The training provided students with an opportunity to strengthen their technical understanding and gain practical exposure to emerging technologies beyond traditional classroom teaching.
This initiative is part of PEC's continued efforts to promote skill development, practical learning and technical education aligned with industry requirements. It aims to provide diploma students with foundational knowledge of technologies that are being rapidly adopted across various sectors.
