Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 4 November:- With the objective of promoting electoral awareness and a sense of responsible citizenship among young people, MY Bharat, SAS Nagar, in collaboration with the NSS Wing of Chandigarh College of Technology (CCT), CGC Landran, organised a ‘Yuva Samvad: Know Your Right to Vote’ programme. The programme was part of the nationwide ‘Viksit Bharat Yuva Samvad’ initiative.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. On the occasion, Ms. Rashmeet Kaur, Director, MY Bharat Punjab; Mr. Vikram, Assistant Director, MY Bharat; Ms. Sakshi Sharma, Youth Icon; and Dr. Gurpreet, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, CCT, were present.
The main highlight of the programme was an informative address by Youth Icon Ms. Sakshi Sharma on the theme ‘My Vote, My Right’. Sharing her views, she highlighted the importance of the right to vote, the need to participate thoughtfully in the electoral process and the significant role of young people in strengthening democracy. She encouraged students to understand the value of their vote and participate in the electoral process as aware and responsible citizens.
This initiative is part of MY Bharat’s nationwide efforts to engage young people in meaningful dialogue on the democratic process and civic responsibilities. The ‘Viksit Bharat Yuva Samvad’ programmes being organised in educational institutions across the country aim to familiarise students, particularly first-time voters, with the electoral process and encourage them to play an aware and active role in the democratic system. The initiative is also aligned with the broader vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, which gives special importance to the role of young people in shaping the nation’s future.
