Nawanshahr (Des Raj Bali):- Following the directions of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, and under the guidance of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Mr Jatinder Pal Singh Khurmi, and Civil Judge (Senior Division)/CJM-cum-Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Dr Amandeep, the District Legal Services Authority organised a legal awareness seminar under the ‘Safe Childhood Campaign’ at Tagore Model Senior Secondary School, Saloh.
Addressing the seminar, Ms Simran Chalana, Civil Judge First Class, informed the students about their rights and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. She explained that the Act provides legal protection against sexual abuse to every child below 18 years of age, whether a boy or a girl. She also informed the students that they could contact the Authority’s toll-free number 15100 for any kind of legal assistance or advice.
Jasandeep, Panel Advocate of the District Legal Services Authority, along with Paralegal Volunteers Mr Vasdev Pardesi and Des Raj Bali, also spread awareness among the students about children's rights under the ‘Safe Childhood Campaign’. The school’s Managing Director, Amrit Lal Jain, Veena Jain, Principal Rajni Sharma and other teachers were present on the occasion.
