Hoshiarpur: Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain stated that, in accordance with the announcement by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the state government's decision, online applications have been invited for issuing new ration cards and adding new members to existing ones under the Smart Ration Card Scheme (National Food Security Act-2013). She mentioned that the initiative aims to extend the scheme's benefits to eligible families through a transparent, fair, and technology-driven process.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that application forms in both English and Punjabi can be downloaded from the department's website, http://foodsuppb.gov.in. She advised applicants to carefully read the accompanying instructions before filling out the form and to submit a complete application along with the necessary documents.
She stated that interested applicants can submit their applications online through their nearest Sewa Kendra or Common Service Centre (CSC). A processing fee of ?100 per application applies when applying through a CSC. Alternatively, applicants can apply online themselves via the state government's e-RCMS portal, for which no fee is charged. Additionally, applicants may submit their applications—along with the required documents and a fee of ?100—at the office of the District Controller, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Hoshiarpur.
Ashika Jain noted that upon successful online submission, a confirmation message containing the receipt number will be sent to the applicant's registered mobile number. Applications will be accepted only until August 11, 2026.
She added that applicants can submit their applications at a Sewa Kendra, CSC, or the district office on any working day between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
She further informed that a help desk has been set up for the convenience of the public at the office of the District Controller, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (Room No. 326, 3rd Floor, Mini Secretariat, Hoshiarpur).
