Amb/Una, June 24: A one-day awareness workshop was successfully organized at the BDO office in Amb by the Industries Department under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises' 'Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance' (RAMP) program. The objective of the workshop was to raise awareness among MSME units, self-help groups, and entrepreneurs regarding digital business, e-commerce, the GeM portal, cluster development, and advocacy programs, thereby connecting them with modern business opportunities. A total of 85 participants took part in the workshop with great enthusiasm.
The workshop was presided over by Pradeep Kumar (Economic Investigator, BDO office), Pramod Sharma (President, Gagret Industrial Association), and Gautam Ji (President, Amb Industrial Association).
Addressing the gathering, the speakers emphasized that in today's competitive era, knowledge of modern technology, digital platforms, and new markets is crucial for small industries and entrepreneurs. They stated that by adopting e-commerce and digital mediums, small businesses can take their products to wider markets and move towards self-reliance.
Providing information on various government schemes, including the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), they explained how youth and women could establish new manufacturing and service units by availing the benefits of financial assistance, bank loans, and subsidies offered through these schemes.

Abhilaksh Lau provided detailed information to the participants about the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal. He explained that this portal serves as an effective platform for MSMEs, self-help groups, and startups, enabling entrepreneurs to reach government buyers and access a nationwide market.
Lead Trainer Pradeep Kumar highlighted the importance of modern entrepreneurial skills, online business, and digital payment systems. He noted that small industries could expand their businesses and secure better opportunities through digital platforms.
Financial Management Managers Mrs. Meenakshi Thakur and Mr. Akshay Singh Dod provided information regarding the Micro and Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme. He apprised women and entrepreneurs of opportunities to scale up their businesses through group-based business models, the utilization of shared resources, and Common Facility Centers.
While providing details about the advocacy program, R.R. Patial explained that its objective is to empower MSME units, self-help groups, and entrepreneurs regarding government policies and schemes, as well as in resolving industry-related issues. He highlighted the program's role in conveying industrial concerns to the appropriate forums and facilitating better policy support.
