Hoshiarpur – An encounter took place between police and two motorcycle riders on Mahdood-Baryana Link Road in village Hoshiarpur district, during which one accused was injured by firing and the other was arrested by the police on the spot.
According to information received from SSP Hoshiarpur Sandeep Kumar Malik and others at the scene, both the injured and arrested persons during the encounter are related to the firing incident at goldsmith shop in Mahilpur a few days ago. Both of them had escaped on a motorcycle after the incident.
SSP Hoshiarpur Sandeep Kumar Malik (IPS) said that a special team was formed to trace the Mahilpur incident, which was led by SP Parminder Singh, DSP Preneet Singh Dhillon, CIA in-charge Gurpreet Singh and police station in-charge Jaipal Singh. The team was investigating from different angles and CCTV images of the motorcyclists who opened fire were also shared.
***Police action on confidential information
The police received confidential information that two persons similar to the Mahilpur incident were seen wearing helmets near village Gajjar Mahdood. On this, the team formed by the SSP immediately reached the spot. When the police signaled them to stop, they started firing at the police. The police also retaliated. In which three bullets were fired. During the encounter, one of the accused was shot in the leg. Who was admitted to the Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur. His accomplice was arrested by the police from the spot
**Father-son found guilty
During the initial investigation, the accused have been identified as father/son. According to the police, the name of the injured son is Keshav while the father Krishan Gopal has been arrested. Both of them are residents of village Benchan (TADA). The police have recovered a motorcycle, helmet and a revolver from the spot. SSP Malik said that legal action has been initiated regarding the incident and further investigation is underway.
