Karnal, February 3:- On the instructions of Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Vaishali Sharma, the action to seal the shops of tenants who have not paid rent for corporation-owned shops has been intensified once again. Under this, the enforcement team has prepared a list of 15 defaulting tenants, against whom the Municipal Corporation will soon take action. These include 12 shops in Uchani village, 1 in Karn Park Market, and 2 shops in Kambopura village. A total of Rs. 5,49,129 is outstanding against these shops.
The Municipal Commissioner stated that these tenants were issued a final notice asking them to deposit the outstanding amount, but they did not comply with the notice. Now, the Municipal Corporation's enforcement team will seal these shops and take possession of them. Action will be taken against these tenants under the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994.  Thereafter, the shop rent will be recovered from the concerned tenant.
Giving information about the recovery made by the Municipal Corporation, she said that so far, approximately Rs. 85 lakh has been recovered in the financial year 2025-26. She informed that Rs. 13,51,364 was recovered in the month of January. This amount includes both outstanding rent and interest. She appealed to all tenants to deposit their rent in the Municipal Corporation's treasury as soon as possible.
