Haryana/Hisar- It has been nearly 12 years since Ukalana village was incorporated into the municipality, yet the residents of the area remain deprived of basic amenities to this day. Local residents are facing severe hardships due to the accumulation of filthy water on the roads.
The village's main road—which serves as a vital link connecting Sirsa on one side and Chandigarh on the other—sees stagnant, filthy water standing up to a depth of approximately one foot in several places. This is not a new issue; rather, it is a problem that has persisted for many years. Local residents have staged numerous protests and appealed to the administration regarding this matter, yet a permanent solution remains elusive.
Local resident Devraj stated that the stagnant, filthy water on the roads makes it extremely difficult for children to commute to school. Often, children are forced to find alternative routes, or they are unable to attend school at all. He noted that the pump installed to drain the water frequently breaks down after running continuously for just 10 hours. He urged the municipality to implement a regular and more efficient system to effectively resolve this issue.
Sarabjit Singh remarked, "We may be elderly now, but for the sake of our children's education, the municipality must take steps to resolve this problem."
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Singh pointed out that whenever residents approach the Municipal Secretary with their grievances, they are merely sent away with assurances, yet no actual resolution is ever achieved.
Local resident and BJP worker Roshni Devi stated that while the Prime Minister and Chief Minister frequently appeal for the resolution of citizens' problems, local officials here are failing to pay any heed. She added that politicians arrive during election season to solicit votes but fail to address the people's issues. She warned that if a solution is not provided this time, the residents will withhold their votes.
Resma mentioned that the stagnant, filthy water has also led to several accidents, and it is left to the local residents themselves to provide first aid to the injured. Anju stated that the wall of her house is on the verge of collapse, yet the administration has paid no heed to the matter thus far.
Former *Panch* Shyamlal mentioned that appeals regarding this issue have been made to the municipal administration on numerous occasions, but no resolution has been reached yet. He added that the government's image is being tarnished due to the negligence of the officials.
The affected residents have demanded that the government and the administration resolve this issue expeditiously.

When an attempt was made to contact Municipal Secretary Sandeep Sharma to discuss a resolution to this matter, he could not be reached.
