Sunam, August 25:- Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora today laid the foundation stones for two major development projects, with a combined cost of Rs 4.31 crore, at the New Grain Market, Sunam Udham Singh Wala.
The projects are aimed at further strengthening the market’s infrastructure and providing better facilities to farmers and other stakeholders.
The projects include the construction of a new Market Committee office building at a cost of Rs 03.10 crore and an Arhtiya-Labour Meeting Hall-cum-Rest House at a cost of Rs 01.21 crore.
Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that the Punjab Government is continuously undertaking development works to modernize the infrastructure of grain markets and provide better facilities to farmers, commission agents (arhtiyas) and labourers.
He said that both projects initiated at the New Grain Market, Sunam, have been planned keeping in view the requirements of various stakeholders associated with the market.
He said that the construction of the new Market Committee office would provide more organized and convenient facilities for carrying out market management-related work.
Similarly, the meeting hall-cum-rest house being constructed for commission agents and labourers would provide them with better facilities during their work at the market.
The Cabinet Minister said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to facilitating farmers and further streamlining the market management system.
He said that special attention is being given to strengthening roads, water supply, sanitation, electricity, sheds and other essential infrastructure in the markets.
Aman Arora said that the pace of development works in the Sunam constituency is being further accelerated and new projects are being undertaken according to the needs of the people.
He said that the development of the New Grain Market would greatly benefit farmers, commission agents, labourers and others directly or indirectly associated with the market.
He said that the primary objective of the government is to provide public services and basic amenities to people in a better and more accessible manner.
He assured that no shortage of funds would be allowed to hinder development works in the Sunam constituency and that every possible effort would be made to ensure the timely completion of ongoing projects.
Earlier, Market Committee Chairman Mukesh Janeja welcomed all the commission agents, farmers, labourers and other workers, along with Panchayat representatives, Sarpanches, Municipal Councillors and local residents present on the occasion. He also expressed gratitude to Cabinet Minister Aman Arora for his initiatives towards the development of the area.
Various office-bearers, prominent local residents, officials from different departments and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
