Chandigarh:- Taking a crucial decision today, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes has ordered the arrest of Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring within five days, which may now increase Warring's problems. The case is about Congress President Raja Warring allegedly using foul language against the Scheduled Caste community in Tarn Taran.
Raja Warring had allegedly used foul language against former Union Home Minister late Buta Singh during the Tarn Taran by-election. The decision of the National Commission will be a new challenge for Warring, who is already embroiled in the internal war of the Congress. National Commission for Scheduled Castes Chairman Kishore Makwana heard the above case today and DSP Harpreet Singh and DSP (EO and Cyber ??Crime) Gulzar Singh appeared on behalf of Punjab Police.
Petitioner Sarabjot Singh, son of late Buta Singh, was also present on the occasion. The National Commission pointed out the lax performance of the Punjab Police and expressed serious concern over the delay in arresting the accused and submitting the action taken report. The National Commission, during the hearing held on May 5, 2026, had recommended completing the investigation within the stipulated time as per the rules.
Taking cognizance of this complaint of petitioner Sarabjot Singh, the National Commission said that it has also issued orders to provide him with adequate security in view of the threats being received by the alleged accused. Apart from this, it has also directed to submit the action taken report within 30 days.
The National Commission today recommended the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to immediately arrest the accused involved in this case as per the law and submit the status of this action to the Commission within 5 days. The Commission also directed to complete the investigation as soon as possible and file the charge sheet in the competent court without any delay.
The Chairman has also recommended to fix the accountability of the officials for the delay in the investigation and arrest. If any negligence is found in the duty of the concerned investigating officer, then departmental action can be taken as per the law. An action taken report has been sought within 30 days on the recommendations of the Commission.
The National Commission has asked to provide adequate police security to petitioner Sarabjot Singh immediately in both Delhi and Punjab in view of the continuous threats being received.
