Una, June 19: The Central Government has invited applications and nominations for the 'National Awards for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities – 2026' for individuals and organizations doing remarkable work in areas such as the rights, education, skill development, employment, rehabilitation, and social inclusion of persons with disabilities. Eligible candidates and organizations can apply online until July 31, 2026.
District Welfare Officer Awas Pandit stated that these prestigious national awards, presented by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, are conferred upon individuals, employers, innovators, institutions, and organizations that have performed outstanding and inspiring work in the field of empowering persons with disabilities.
He informed that interested and eligible individuals, institutions, and organizations can apply exclusively online via the National Awards Portal at www.awards.gov.in. The application and nomination process began on May 15, 2026, and will continue until July 31, 2026; applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.
Awas Pandit mentioned that detailed guidelines, eligibility criteria, and information regarding the various award categories are available on the DEPwD website (www.depwd.gov.in) and the National Awards Portal. He urged the maximum number of eligible individuals and organizations to apply in a timely manner.
