Karnal, January 14: The sanitation team of the Karnal Municipal Corporation conducted a special drive on Wednesday and removed the street vendors operating outside Karn Park. These vendors had been repeatedly warned about spreading litter, but they failed to comply. This action was taken on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vaishali Sharma.
It is worth noting that on Tuesday evening, the Municipal Commissioner visited Karn Park to inspect the cleanliness. During the inspection, it was observed that the street vendors operating outside Karn Park were also contributing to the litter inside the park. The fast food and other waste were attracting rats, causing holes to appear in various places, thus spoiling the beauty of the park.
The Municipal Commissioner stated that street vendors operating outside Karn Park had been removed previously due to their failure to maintain cleanliness. She informed that the Municipal Corporation team regularly visits the city's special market areas to monitor sanitation. During these visits, fines are imposed if litter is found in front of shops or street vendors. She warned all street vendors to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.
If litter is found anywhere, street vendors will not be allowed to operate there. She also urged shopkeepers to maintain cleanliness. Fines will be imposed if litter is found in front of their shops. The team that carried out the action included Sanitation Inspector Sandeep Kumar, the Swachh Bharat Mission team, and other support staff.
