Karnal, August 29: Amidst the sanitation workers' strike, the Karnal Municipal Corporation's sanitation team is working with utmost seriousness and promptness to maintain the city's cleanliness. Utilizing all available resources, the administration is running a continuous campaign to collect garbage from various areas and alleviate sanitation-related inconveniences for residents.
Municipal Commissioner Saloni Sharma stated that the Corporation has deployed its available resources to their full capacity to ensure the smooth functioning of the city's sanitation system. Door-to-door collection vehicles (tippers) are being dispatched, achieving approximately 90 percent coverage in household waste collection. The Corporation's team is striving to cover as many areas as possible to ensure regular garbage pickup from homes.

**Constant monitoring of garbage-prone hotspots:**
The Municipal Commissioner noted that around 30 garbage-prone hotspots were identified in the city, and special sanitation drives were conducted there; efforts to clear waste from locations where dumping has recurred are also ongoing. She emphasized that rather than merely cleaning these sensitive spots once and moving on, the sanitation team is maintaining continuous surveillance and cleaning operations to prevent the re-accumulation of waste.

**Approximately 250 metric tonnes of waste collected:**
She reported that during the sanitation drive conducted on Saturday, approximately 250 metric tonnes of waste were collected from various parts of the city and transported to the solid waste management plant. Corporation officials and sanitation staff are constantly monitoring the situation in the field, and wherever reports of large accumulations of waste are received, cleanup operations are being prioritized.
She added that the Corporation administration aims to ensure that residents face minimal inconvenience regarding sanitation services, despite the ongoing strike. The available machinery, vehicles, and human resources are being utilized effectively for this purpose.

**Municipal Administration Committed to Keeping the City Clean:**
The Municipal Commissioner stated that the Karnal Municipal Corporation is continuously working to maintain an efficient sanitation system in the city. Accumulated waste is being promptly collected and transported to the designated solid waste management plant to minimize inconvenience to citizens caused by filth, maintain a clean environment, and control pollution.
He also appealed to city residents to collect waste generated from their homes and establishments, dispose of it directly into Municipal Corporation vehicles, and cooperate with the Corporation in maintaining cleanliness. Residents were urged not to dump garbage in open areas, on roads, or in public spaces, and to avoid littering.

**Strict Action Against Those Obstructing Sanitation Work:**
He clarified that maintaining the city's sanitation system is a priority for the Municipal Corporation. He stated that if anyone deliberately creates obstacles or prevents the Corporation's sanitation team from performing their duties, strict legal action will be taken against them in accordance with the rules.
He noted that any disruption to sanitation services directly affects the general public, causing inconvenience to residents. Therefore, any form of obstruction to sanitation work will not be tolerated.

**Sanitation Drive to Continue Unabated:**
The Municipal Commissioner stated that the Municipal Corporation administration is working with full seriousness to ensure the city's sanitation system remains functional and smooth. The sanitation drive will continue, with special emphasis placed on waste collection and cleaning critical areas by utilizing additional resources as needed. He affirmed that the Karnal Municipal Corporation is committed to ensuring a clean, beautiful, and healthy city, and every possible effort is being made to provide superior sanitation services to citizens, even under current circumstances.
