Una, September 2:- Member of Parliament Anurag Thakur chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting in Una on Wednesday and conducted an in-depth review of various Centrally Sponsored development schemes. He directed officials to work with a sense of accountability towards their departments, the state and the general public, and to make it their priority to ensure that maximum benefits of the schemes reach poor and needy people. He emphasized that officials should set clear targets for their respective tasks, fix timelines and regularly assess progress.
During the meeting held in the District Council Conference Hall, the MP reviewed the Centrally Sponsored Schemes as well as the progress of important projects being implemented in Una with Central assistance. He directed officials to ensure timely and effective utilization of the available funds. He said that available resources should be utilized properly and the benefits of the schemes should reach eligible people on time.
**Directs Completion of Pending MP LADS Works by October 15
The MP took information regarding the status of sanctioned and pending works under MP LADS and directed the concerned officials to complete them on priority. He asked the Block Development Officers to get the pending works completed within the next 45 days, by October 15, and submit a report.
**Take Information About Schemes to the Panchayat Level
The MP directed the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing and Panchayati Raj to coordinate with representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions and conduct panchayat-wise awareness campaigns. He said that information regarding eligibility, benefits and the application process of various Central and State Government schemes should be disseminated among as many people as possible so that eligible people can avail themselves of the benefits.
**Effective Action Against Illegal Mining, Emphasis on Use of Technology
For effective control of illegal mining, the MP directed the concerned departments to further strengthen the monitoring and enforcement mechanism. He emphasized maximum use of modern technology, including drones, for monitoring so that effective surveillance can be ensured in sensitive areas.
**Give Special Attention to Alignment in Road Projects
While reviewing road projects, the MP directed officials to pay special attention to the alignment of the projects. He asked them to properly review the technical aspects of road construction while keeping future requirements, traffic and local conditions in mind.
**Expresses Displeasure Over Delay in PGI Satellite Centre
During the review of the under-construction PGI Satellite Centre at Malahat, the MP expressed displeasure over the delay in the project. He sought information from the concerned agency and PGI management regarding the progress of the work and the reasons for the delay, and emphasized completing the project within the stipulated timeframe. The concerned agency assured that the project would be completed and handed over by December 2026.
**Reviews Major Projects Including Bulk Drug Park
The MP also took stock of the progress of the Bulk Drug Park being developed in the Haroli area. Besides this, he sought information on the progress of major projects being implemented and proposed in Una with Central assistance, including the Bihradhu-Lathiani four-lane project, the under-construction PGI Satellite Centre at Malahat and the proposed IG Ethanol Plant at Jeetpur Behri.
**Health and Social Welfare Schemes Also Reviewed
The MP directed the Health Department to coordinate with educational institutions and organize programmes to increase awareness among students about diseases such as TB and HIV/AIDS. He also sought detailed information regarding the number of beneficiaries under the Sahara Scheme, along with the eligibility criteria and conditions prescribed under the scheme.
While reviewing the status of toilet facilities available in slum areas, he asked the concerned department to present details of the toilets available and constructed in proportion to the population so that the actual situation could be assessed.
**Progress of Smart Meters and PM Surya Ghar Scheme Reviewed
The MP sought information regarding the progress of smart meter installation in the district and said that wherever smart meters have been installed, efforts should be made to increase public confidence by informing people about their functioning and benefits. He also sought information from the concerned department regarding public response to the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and the practical difficulties being faced in its implementation.
**Public Representatives Put Forward Important Suggestions
During the meeting, former minister Virendra Kanwar, former Chintpurni MLA Balbir Chaudhary and Zila Parishad Chairman Pawan Lambardar, along with other members, put forward important suggestions related to various developmental issues and presented the requirements of their respective areas before the committee.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ishant Jaswal assured that compliance with the directions issued by the MP would be ensured. He said that necessary steps would be taken in coordination with the concerned departments to complete development works within the stipulated timelines.
Superintendent of Police Sachin Hiremath gave information about the efforts and action being taken to prevent illegal mining in the district.
Senior officials from various departments and non-official and official members of the committee were present on the occasion.
