Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, November 5:- Under the ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ campaign launched by the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to grant people ownership rights to their homes, MLA Kulwant Singh today distributed property cards to 396 residents in villages Matra and Bathlana. Speaking to journalists on the occasion, the MLA said that 169 residents of village Matra and 227 residents of village Bathlana were handed property cards.
MLA Kulwant Singh said that the campaign is continuing and property cards are being distributed to people by visiting villages. He stated that property cards have been prepared for approximately 50 per cent of the people in the Mohali Assembly constituency, while the remaining cards will also be prepared soon and handed over to the beneficiaries.
He said that earlier, people lived in these houses but did not have ownership rights. Now, with the issuance of property cards, they have become the owners of their homes and have received ownership-related rights. This will enable people to sell their property, retain it or obtain loans against it to start a business. Earlier, due to the absence of ownership documents, people faced difficulties in accessing such facilities.
Thanking Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for this public-friendly initiative, the MLA said that despite a long time having passed since Independence, this issue had not received adequate attention in the past. He said that the campaign would play an important role in resolving disputes related to land and house ownership in villages and provide people with security regarding their rights.
MLA Kulwant Singh stated that streetlights have been installed in the villages of the Mohali Assembly constituency, and playgrounds are being developed on a large scale to connect young people with sports. He said that sports facilities would help keep youth away from drugs while also improving their health and nurturing their sporting talent.
He said that the Punjab Government is providing players with the necessary sports equipment and other facilities. In addition, coaches who train players are also being given cash awards and honours.
The MLA said that the construction of most roads connecting villages has been completed, and the remaining work will also be finished in the coming time. He said that villagers themselves are coming forward to appreciate the development works being carried out by the government.
On the occasion, those present at village Matra included Sarpanch Sapna Rani, Avtar Singh, Sukhbir Singh, Parminder Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Avtar Singh, Major Singh and Mukhtiar Singh, Block President, along with Panchayat members and other prominent residents.
At village Bathlana, those present included Sarpanch Harpal Singh, Gurjeet Singh Fauji, Balkar Singh Numberdar, Harnek Singh Numberdar, Master Amarjit Singh and Wazir Singh, former Sarpanch, along with other prominent residents. On the occasion, people expressed happiness over receiving the property cards and thanked MLA Kulwant Singh and the Punjab Government.
