Dera Bassi (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), October 28: As part of the revolutionary steps being taken by the Bhagwant Singh Mann government of Punjab towards sports and village-level development, MLA of Derabassi constituency S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa today launched playgrounds and other development projects worth a total of Rs 3.26 crore in nine villages of his constituency.
These projects have been launched by the Punjab government with the idea of connecting the youth to sports, increasing facilities at the village level and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Giving details of the development works, he said that the construction of playgrounds to be built at a cost of Rs. 46.09 lakh in village Sarangpur, at a cost of Rs. 18.61 lakh in village Barana, at a cost of Rs. 36.84 lakh in village Bhagsi, at a cost of Rs. 32.60 lakh in village Miyapur, at a cost of Rs. 52.28 lakh in village Baroli and at a cost of Rs. 38.87 lakh in village Bohra was inaugurated.
Similarly, the construction of a playground and a Panchayat Ghar at a cost of Rs. 30.38 lakh in village Samgauli was started. The construction of a new Panchayat Ghar was started at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh in village Jarot. The work of a playground and a Panchayat Ghar at a cost of Rs. 45.65 lakh in village Amalala was started.
MLA S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa said that the Chief Minister S. The Punjab government under the leadership of Bhagwant Singh Mann is implementing special schemes to promote sports at the village level. He said that “Sports keep the youth away from drugs and make them physically and mentally strong. Playgrounds are being established in every village with this aim.”
He said that along with sports, panchayat development works like Panchayat Ghar, roads, water and sanitation are the priority of the government so that the villages can be made convenient and developed.
Meanwhile, in every village, the Sarpanchs, Panchayat members, and villagers warmly welcomed the MLA and thanked him for making the long-pending developmental dreams of the villages a reality.
