Hoshiarpur: MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa and Mayor Surinder Kumar today handed over sanction letters to 100 eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) during a program organized at the Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation. On this occasion, they congratulated the beneficiaries and said that this ambitious scheme of the government is a strong step towards providing permanent and secure housing to common citizens.
MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa informed that 170 beneficiaries had already been issued sanction letters earlier. He said that a total of 337 applications were approved by the Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, out of which 270 beneficiaries have been provided with sanction letters so far. He informed that these 270 beneficiaries have received a total financial assistance of Rs. 6.75 crore under the scheme.
MLA Jimpa said that the Punjab government is working with the goal of providing a dignified life to the common man. He clarified that no person who fulfills all the eligibility criteria will be deprived of the benefits of the scheme. He instructed the Municipal Corporation and the concerned departments to expedite the disposal of pending cases and issue sanction letters to the remaining beneficiaries soon.
Mayor Surinder Kumar said that the Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation is implementing the housing scheme with complete transparency and promptness. He instructed the officials to ensure that the beneficiaries do not face any problems during the construction work and that they receive timely installment payments. On this occasion, the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the government and said that this scheme will prove to be a milestone in realizing their dream of owning a home.
On this occasion, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Jyoti Bala Mattu, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Chaudhary, Joint Commissioner Sandeep, Assistant Commissioner Ajay Kumar, SE Satish Saini, MTP Lakhvir Singh, MIS Specialist Puneet Joshi, along with councilors from different wards, were also present.
