Chandigarh, June 8:- Haryana Minister of State for Sports Shri Gaurav Gautam today inaugurated a modern ‘Aspirational Toilet’ built at a cost of about Rs 30 lakh in Tau Devi Lal Town Park located in Ward No.-12 of Municipal Council Palwal. Developed with joint financial support of the Government of India and the Government of Haryana, this project has been prepared in accordance with the guidelines of Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0 and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
The project is based on high standards of cleanliness, safety and dignity
Minister of State for Sports Shri Gaurav Gautam said that the aim of the state government is not just to construct toilets, but to develop such public sanitation complexes that meet high standards of cleanliness, safety, convenience and dignity. He said that this initiative is an important step towards providing a safer and more inclusive environment especially for women, children, transgender community and Divyangjan.
Separate facilities for all sections, including baby care room and store room
He said that separate toilets have been arranged for men, women, transgender persons and Divyangjan in this modern public toilet complex. Also, keeping in mind the needs of mothers and young children, baby care room and store room for safe storage of cleaning and maintenance materials have also been constructed.
Role of public participation is important in building a clean city
The Minister of State for Sports said that facilities like aspiration toilets play an important role in reducing unhealthy habits like open defecation, improving public health and strengthening sanitation standards like ODF Plus. He appealed to the citizens that this facility is for the common people. Therefore, they should use this facility responsibly, maintain its cleanliness and protect it as a public asset.
He said that provisions like separate facilities for women, special places for childcare, respectful arrangements for the transgender community and easy access for the differently-abled make this project an ideal public sanitation model. Only through public participation and awareness can the widespread benefits of such public welfare projects be extended to every section of the society.
Minister of State for Sports Gaurav Gautam said that this project is an important step towards strengthening civic amenities, cleanliness promotion and inclusive urban infrastructure, which will prove helpful in building a clean, healthy and developed city.
District Municipal Commissioner Manisha Sharma, SDO of Municipal Council Bijender and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.
