Indore:- A beggar in Indore is the owner of property worth lakhs. The 50-year-old man, who has leprosy and used to earn a living by begging, has turned out to be a millionaire in the initial investigation. According to the officials, this person has three permanent houses, a car and three auto rickshaws, which he has rented out. Dinesh Mishra, an officer of the Women and Child Development Department, said that this beggar has been rescued from the Sarafa area on the information of the general public.
He said that the person has three houses including a three-storey building. Apart from this, he used to go begging in a car, for which he also hired a driver. This person used to beg in a wheelchair and was active in this direction since the year 2021-22.
During the investigation, it was found that he had given interest of four to five lakh rupees to the people of Sarafa area. He used to collect interest daily and he had an income of about 1,000 to 2,000 rupees daily. He used to make a daily wage of 400 to 500 rupees by begging.
District Collector Shivam Verma said that Indore has been declared a 'beggar-free city' and on receiving information about any beggar, immediate steps are taken for his rehabilitation. He said that after a complete investigation, legal action will be taken against this millionaire beggar.
On the other hand, Rupali Jain, president of the NGO 'Pravesh', which saves beggars, said that this matter needs to be looked at from a human perspective. According to her, this person used to work as a mason earlier, but after getting leprosy, he started begging because he could not work.
