Chandigarh, July 17: Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, MD of Emerging India, who is embroiled in a fraud case for not providing flats, has approached the High Court to get the FIR quashed on the basis of a compromise. While the High Court has issued a notice seeking a response, it has also sought information regarding other cases against Gurpreet Singh. This matter has brought to light that builders are finally having to adopt the path of compromise to get rid of cases involving cheating investors.
According to the case, Gurpreet Singh Sidhu could not provide a flat in the Emerging India project at Sante Majra on the Kharar-Banur road a decade ago. Initially, a compromise was reached by registering a plot in the name of Rupjit Kaur, a resident of village Khaira Kotli in Gurdaspur. However, when possession was not given, Rupjit Kaur complained to the police, leading to the registration of a case. Now, a compromise has been reached by offering a shop.
The High Court was approached to get the FIR quashed based on this compromise. With Advocate Gagan Pradeep Singh Bal representing Rupjit Kaur, the bench of Justice Manisha Batra issued a notice to the police, directing that the statements of Gurpreet Singh Sidhu be recorded from jail. Gurpreet Singh is currently detained in connection with this same case.
