Una, March 11: Martyr Naib Subedar Kulwant Singh, a brave son of Ghaluwal village in the Haroli Assembly constituency, was given a final farewell with full military honors in his native village of Ghaluwal today (Wednesday).
Martyr Naib Subedar Kulwant Singh, 40, was serving as a Naib Subedar in the Indian Army in Arunachal Pradesh. He was martyred in a road accident in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh on March 7. His mortal remains were airlifted to Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri attended the funeral of martyr Naib Subedar Kulwant Singh and paid tribute to him. He said that the contribution of brave soldier Kulwant Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice for the protection of the motherland, will always remain immortal. His courage, dedication, and patriotism will continue to inspire generations to come. He said, "We stand with the bereaved family in this sad hour. May God grant peace to the departed soul and give the family the strength to bear this immense loss."
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, Superintendent of Police Sachin Hiremath, and Army officers visited the village to pay their respects to the martyr. They prayed for the peace of the departed soul and expressed their deepest condolences to the bereaved family, praying to God to grant them the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
A large number of villagers, along with others, bid a tearful farewell to their brave son during the funeral procession through the streets of Ghaluwal village.
Martyr Kulwant Singh, born in 1985, joined the Indian Army in 2003 and was currently serving as a Naib Subedar in the 908 Field Regiment of the 56 Artillery Brigade. Martyr Kulwant Singh leaves behind his mother Mahinder Kaur, wife Pooja Devi, two sons Rohan Chaudhary (13) and Suryansh (10). He also has a brother Satwant Singh, sister-in-law Manju Devi, and nephew Rudra Pratap Singh. His contribution to the service of the nation will always be remembered with pride and respect.
On this occasion, Congress District President Deshraj Gautam, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, SP Sachin Hiremath, Captain Yogesh from Yol Cantt Signal Unit, Subedar Major Gurnam Singh from 908 Artillery, along with a large number of villagers and family members were present.
