Haroli/Una, April 17 (Rajveer Chopra):- Office bearers of the Maharishi Valmiki Guru Ravidas Youth Ekta Mahasabha have expressed strong opposition to the opening of liquor vends in the vicinity of Khuralgarh Sahib—a sacred religious site located in the Garhshankar region of Punjab. The Mahasabha asserts that establishing such liquor outlets on this holy land—which is sanctified by the footsteps of Sahib Satguru Ravidas Maharaj Ji—deeply hurts the religious sentiments of devotees.
They stated that Khuralgarh Sahib is an extremely sacred site, visited daily by a large number of devotees who come to pay their obeisance. Under these circumstances, having liquor vends in close proximity to this religious site is not only inappropriate but also contrary to the principles of faith. The Mahasabha has demanded that these vends be shut down immediately.
Issuing a warning to the administration, representatives of the Mahasabha declared that if concrete action is not taken soon, a large-scale sit-in protest will be staged outside the SDM office in Garhshankar on April 22. They made it clear that the administration would bear full responsibility for any untoward incident that might arise.
In this regard, Amit Valmiki, an office bearer of the Mahasabha, stated that the organization is prepared to struggle at every level to uphold religious dignity.
