Santokhgarh/Una, March 29 (Rajveer Chopra): A major road accident was averted in Santokhgarh on Sunday morning. A violent collision occurred on the bridge near the Khwaja Temple between an Indian Oil tanker and two tippers approaching from the opposite direction, resulting in injuries to the drivers of all three vehicles.
According to reports, the Indian Oil tanker was traveling from Tahliwal towards Santokhgarh, while the two tippers were heading from Santokhgarh in the direction of Tahliwal. Near the bridge, the three vehicles suddenly collided head-on with great force. The impact was so severe that all three drivers became trapped inside their respective vehicles.
Locals present at the scene immediately initiated relief and rescue operations and, after considerable effort, managed to extricate the injured individuals. All the injured were immediately rushed to the Santokhgarh dispensary, where they received medical treatment. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this accident.
Due to the accident, the Tahliwal–Santokhgarh route remained blocked for approximately five hours, causing significant inconvenience to commuters. The situation became even more challenging due to rainfall. As the bridge is narrow, removing the damaged vehicles took a considerable amount of time. Subsequently, the route was cleared with the assistance of a Hydra crane.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team led by the In-charge of the Santokhgarh Police Post arrived at the scene and took control of the situation. While working to restore traffic flow, the police have also initiated an investigation into the matter.
It is noteworthy that another road accident had occurred at Goshala Chowk on Saturday night around 9 PM, where the police were also present on the spot.
