Karnal, June 6: A severe road accident occurred late Friday night on the National Highway near Tarawadi in Karnal district, involving a collision between a Volvo bus (en route from Delhi to Manali), a truck, and a tractor-trolley. According to reports, the passenger-filled Volvo bus rammed into the rear of a truck moving ahead of it on the highway. The impact was so forceful that the truck was pushed forward and collided with a tractor-trolley. Chaos ensued at the scene following the crash, and locals stepped in to assist with relief efforts.
A total of eight people, including several bus passengers, were injured in the accident; the truck driver and the tractor-trolley driver also sustained injuries. All the injured were immediately admitted to the Civil Hospital in Tarawadi for treatment. Assistant Sub-Inspector Subhash stated that preliminary investigations reveal the bus rear-ended the truck, triggering the chain-reaction collision.
Meanwhile, a passenger on the bus recounted that most passengers were asleep at the time of the accident and were jolted awake by the violent impact. Traffic on the highway was disrupted for some time following the incident but was later restored to normal by the police. The police are currently investigating the cause of the accident and examining all aspects of the case.
