Santoshgarh/Una, June 15 (Rajveer Chopra): Under the "Drug-Free Himachal" campaign launched by the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, the Una District Police is taking consistent and effective action against drug smugglers. In this ongoing effort, the police have successfully arrested two accused individuals and recovered 63.32 grams of 'Chitta' (heroin).
As part of the special drive against drug smugglers, a team from the SIU (Special Investigation Unit), Una, stopped a motorcycle for inspection on Tahliwal Road, Santoshgarh, on June 15, 2026, acting on a tip-off. During the search, 63.32 grams of 'Chitta'/heroin, which had been concealed within the motorcycle, was recovered.
The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and arrested the motorcycle rider and his pillion passenger—identified as Satish Kumar and Manjit Kumar, both sons of Gulzar Chand and residents of Village Jaijon, Tehsil and District Hoshiarpur (Punjab).
According to the police, the matter is being investigated thoroughly. Authorities are probing the backward and forward linkages of the smuggling operation to determine the source of the recovered contraband and the intended recipients. Further investigation is underway.
**Appeal by District Police**
The Una District Police has appealed to the public, stating that the youth represent the nation's greatest strength, and protecting them from the grip of drugs is a collective responsibility. The District Police will continue its crackdown to make society drug-free.
The police have urged citizens to actively support this campaign against drugs and to immediately report any suspicious activity or information regarding drug smuggling. The identity of the informant will be kept strictly confidential.
