Chandigarh, December 12:- According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, crop insurance for Rabi 2025-26 under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana has started from December 1 and the last date for getting insurance has been fixed as December 31, 2025.
A government spokesperson while giving information in this regard said that in Rabi 2025-26, wheat, mustard, barley, gram and sunflower have been included in the category of insured crops.
Under this, farmers must get their crops insured while taking advantage of this insurance scheme. He said that the state government has authorized the insurance company for better implementation of the scheme in the districts.
He said that farmers who want to get their crops insured can get their crops insured through their Aadhaar card, bank passbook, latest land record/deposit, sowing certificate and Meri Fasal Meri Biyora along with the respective bank or CSC center. This scheme is voluntary for all farmers. He said that if any borrower farmer does not want to get insurance, then he must give a written declaration to his lending bank 7 days before the cut-off date. Apart from this, farmers who are changing crops can get their crops changed in their lending bank till December 29, 2025.
