Lalru (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), September 7:- Taking a major initiative to further strengthen sewerage and wastewater drainage management in Lalru city, Derabassi MLA Shri Kuljit Singh Randhawa today initiated the work on a comprehensive sewerage and wastewater treatment project costing Rs. 47.54 crore under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) 2.0.
The objective of this important project is to provide Lalru city with a modern and effective sewerage system, resolve the problem of stagnant sewage water and ensure scientific and sustainable management of wastewater. The project has been targeted for completion within 18 months.
Under the project, approximately 9 kilometres of sewerage lines and 12.7 kilometres of rising main network will be laid in the city. In addition, a 3.00 MLD capacity Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) will be established at village Magra and a 3.50 MLD capacity Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant (FSTP) will be established behind the Verka booth.
The project also includes an Intercepting and Diversion Sewer, Intermediate Pumping Station (IPS) and Main Pumping Station (MPS), through which an integrated system for the collection, transportation and treatment of sewage will be developed.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, MLA Shri Kuljit Singh Randhawa said that this project would bring a major qualitative improvement to the sanitation infrastructure of Lalru and help provide better and sustainable civic amenities to the residents of the city. He said that this initiative would not only improve public health but also help make the city cleaner and environmentally better.
He said that the government is continuously making efforts to ensure timely completion of development works in the constituency and provide better basic facilities to the people.
On the occasion, Municipal Council President Zorawar Singh, Senior Vice-President Harish Madan, councillors, ward in-charges, block presidents, panches, sarpanches, area residents, party representatives and officials of various government departments were present.
