Hoshiarpur:- Beautiful writing, mehndi and rangoli competitions dedicated to ‘International Mother Language Day’ were organized. 120 students participated in these competitions. The main theme of these competitions was mother language Punjabi, Gurmukhi script and Punjabi culture. In the ‘Beautiful Writing Competition’, Rupinderjit Kaur, a student of BA Semester-2, secured first place, Arshdeep Kaur, a student of BA Semester-6, secured second place and Harshdeep Kaur, a student of BSC Non-Medical, secured third place.
In the ‘Mehndi’ competition, Yash Kumar of BA Semester-4 secured first place, Gagandeep of BSC Semester-2 secured second place and Tanisha Sood of BA Semester-2 secured third place. In the ‘Rangoli’ competition, BA Semester-4 student Simranpreet Kaur secured first place, BA Semester-4 student Aradhana Kumari secured second place and BA Semester-6 student Nisha secured third place.
After these competitions, a prize distribution ceremony was organized.
In this, the students who secured first, second and third place in the above competitions were awarded with Punjabi novels, diary and pens. All the students who participated in the prize distribution ceremony were also given prizes. In the prize distribution ceremony, Punjabi department teachers Dr. Jatinderpal Singh and Mr. Balwinder Singh Chahal recited their poems.
At this time, Kuber Bhardwaj, Varinder Kahlon recited poems. MA Punjabi students Cherry and Jasjit Kaur presented folk songs. At this time, after distributing the prizes, the college principal congratulated the students on Punjabi Language Day and inspired them to connect with Punjabi language and heritage.
In his address, he said that every language deserves respect and we should learn as many languages ??as possible, but this should not be done by ignoring the mother tongue.
