Patiala, July 5:- A special meeting of the Patiala unit of Tarksheel Society Punjab was held today at the Bang Media Complex. The meeting was presided over by Sh. Satish Kumar Alowal, Head of the Finance Department, where the implementation of "saffronization" across the country by the central government was condemned.
Sharing details of the meeting, Media Head Ram Singh Bang stated that including verses from the Manusmriti in the new Social Science textbooks by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is a result of the BJP government's unscientific mindset and an expression of an unethical mentality toward women. He said that the BJP is spreading falsehoods by claiming the ancient text of Manusmriti is necessary for a righteous life.
He added that the BJP’s claims regarding the respect for women in the Vedic era are baseless and a bundle of lies, as women at that time were considered servants and personal property of kings, landlords, and priests. Their role was limited to bearing children and keeping men happy. Since these ideas are present in this text, the Manusmriti can never be called a pro-people text.
On this occasion, members of the Patiala unit, including Sh. Ram Kumar Dhakadba, Sneh Lata, Kulwant Kaur Patiala, Gurpooranjit Singh, Manoj Gai, Dr. Ajay Kumar, J.P. Singh, Harbans Lal, Parminder Singh, Surinder Hans, and Ranjit Singh Mann, expressed their views and condemned the BJP government for removing Darwin's theory of evolution from the students' syllabus.
During the meeting, the July-August 2026 issue of the Tarksheel magazine was released. A pledge was taken to streamline the society's operations further so that superstition can be eradicated among the general public and a scientific temperament can be developed, aiming to establish a healthy, new society. At this event, discussions were also held to conduct a seminar on the theory of evolution in the coming days.
