New Delhi:- The investigation into the case of embezzlement of Rs 590 crore from the Haryana government's accounts in Chandigarh-based IDFC First Bank is now being handled by the Central Bureau of Investigation. According to government sources, the Haryana government had decided to hand over the investigation of the case to the central agency last month. The CBI will soon register a new case based on the FIR of the Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.
According to the bank, this fraud was committed jointly by its employees and some private individuals. The investigation has revealed that the funds given by various government departments for FDs were diverted by the accused for their personal gain. This money was invested in shell companies, jewellery shops and the real estate sector.
The role of a hotelier from Chandigarh is also under investigation in this case. The bank said that it has paid Rs 583 crore along with interest to the concerned departments of the Haryana government and will continue to take action against the accused.
Haryana government suspends 3 IAS officers
The Haryana government has suspended IAS officer Ram Kumar Singh, who is serving as Special Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department and Additional CEO, Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority, Panchkula, with immediate effect.
During the period of suspension, the headquarters of Ram Kumar Singh, IAS will be at the office of the Chief Secretary, Government of Haryana (in Services-1 Branch).
In addition, the Haryana government has also suspended Pradeep Kumar-1, IAS, who was Director, State Transport and Special Secretary, Transport.
