Hoshiarpur:- According to the directions of Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Doctor Mandeep Kamal, Human Papillomavirus vaccination is being administered at various health institutions in the district for the prevention of cervical cancer, so that women can be protected from cervical cancer.
Providing information in this regard, Doctor Seema Garg, District Immunization Officer, said that this campaign was started on 28 February 2026. Under this campaign, Human Papillomavirus vaccine is being administered to 14-year-old girls whose age has not yet reached 15 years, so that women can be protected from cervical cancer. The main objective of the Health Department through this vaccination is to provide future protection to girls from a serious disease like cervical cancer. She said that this vaccine is very beneficial for protecting girls from cervical cancer and through this vaccination the risk of cervical cancer in the future can be prevented to a great extent.
This vaccine will be given as a single dose and it is completely safe. It has no side effects. She said that the Health Department, keeping the future of children in mind, is from time to time adding every vaccine to the immunization schedule that can help in facing dangerous diseases in the future. She informed that cervical cancer is a serious disease among women and vaccination is the most effective method for its prevention. Cervical cancer ranks second among Indian women after breast cancer.
She said that the government has set a target to eliminate cervical cancer by 2030, and this campaign is an important step towards achieving that goal. During this campaign, vaccination will be carried out through health institutions and its record will be maintained through U-WIN.
She informed that in District Hoshiarpur, Human Papillomavirus vaccination is being carried out at Community Health Centre Tanda, Primary Health Unit Paldi, Primary Health Centre Mand Mander, Public Private Unit Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur, Community Health Centre Harta Badla, Primary Health Centre Hajipur, Community Health Centre Sham Chaurasi, Primary Health Centre Chakowal, Primary Health Centre Budhawar, Community Health Centre Bhunga, Urban Primary Health Centre Purhira, Primary Health Centre Posi, Sub Divisional Hospital Mukerian, Community Health Centre Mahilpur, Primary Health Centre Kamahi Devi, Sub Divisional Hospital Garhshankar, Urban Primary Health Centre Islamabad, Sub Divisional Hospital Dasuya, Community Health Centre Beenewal and Community Health Centre Bhol Kalota.
She said that awareness campaigns are also being conducted to spread awareness among people so that parents can confidently get their daughters vaccinated.
