Hoshiarpur to become solar model district free solar systems to be installed in the homes of 600 talented students

Hoshiarpur:- In order to build the future of the district on the strong pillars of energy, education and self-reliance, the district administration has taken a motivating and visionary initiative under the Rising Sun campaign. At the center of this campaign is a free roof top solar system of 1-1 kilowatt on the homes of 600 topper students, along with this, two other projects related to employment for children with special needs and employment for rural women are also working to give a new direction to the society.
In a meeting held with various voluntary organizations working in the district under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, a clear message has been given that development will be sustainable only when the administration and the society move forward together.

**Free Solar System for 600 Topper Students - Honors as well as Messages
The most effective series of the Rising Sun campaign is the ‘Go Solar Campaign’. The Deputy Commissioner announced that with CSR support, a roof top solar system of up to 1 kW will be installed completely free of cost on the houses of 600 topper students of class X of the year 2024-25. This initiative is not only a symbol of honor for the meritorious students, but also gives a strong message to motivate the entire society to adopt clean and affordable solar energy through their families.

**Wings Project-Respectable Employment for Special Children
Under the Rising Sun campaign, ‘Wings Project’ has emerged as a ray of hope for that section of the society, which is often considered to be far from the mainstream. Under this project, 16 special children have been provided with respectable employment by setting up canteens at 7 places in Hoshiarpur. Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain appealed to NGOs to come forward and identify such children and become partners in the expansion of the Wings project.

**Sui-Dhaaga Project-Self-reliance of rural women
Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that the third important initiative is the ‘Sui-Dhaaga’ project, which aims to provide permanent employment to rural needy women through skill development. Under this project, sewing centers will be opened in villages, tehsils and blocks. She said that the machinery and equipment will be provided by the Red Cross Society, while the operation will be done under the MGNREGA framework.
