Chandigarh, May 22:- A high-level meeting was held in Panchkula under the chairmanship of Vikram Singh, Special Energy Secretary of Haryana and Managing Director of North and South Haryana Power Distribution Corporations to review the effective implementation and progress of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme.
The Managing Director reviewed the applications received under the scheme, approved cases, installation of rooftop solar plants and pending cases in detail during the meeting. He directed the officers to expedite the implementation of the scheme and ensure time-bound benefits to the consumers. Special emphasis was also laid on the immediate resolution of the problems arising at various levels.
He directed all the officers and vendors to expedite the work of installing rooftop solar systems and take special care of the quality standards. It should also be ensured that the applications of the consumers do not remain pending and the installation work is completed within the stipulated time. Regular coordination meeting will be held on the first Wednesday of every month for better coordination with vendors and prompt resolution of problems.
The bank officials present in the meeting were urged to simplify and speed up the loan approval and disbursal process under the scheme so that the consumers do not have to face financial difficulties. The officials said that by speeding up the banking procedures, the benefits of the scheme can be extended to maximum people.
Mr. Vikram Singh also inspected the progress report of various circles and divisions during the review meeting. Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has issued 36,130 connections out of its set target of 1,22,000, while Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has issued 45,605 connections out of its target of 1,00,000. Thus, a total of 81,735 connections have been issued by both the corporations.
The Managing Director directed the officials to make the consumers aware about the benefits of the Rooftop Solar Scheme by conducting awareness campaigns at the field level. This scheme will reduce the electricity bill of the consumers and promote clean and green energy. Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme is an important scheme of the Government of India, which aims to connect domestic consumers with solar energy and promote self-reliance in the field of energy.
