Chandigarh, June 8:– Haryana Governor Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh today honoured the leading officers and special delegates from across the country who had come to attend the second Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-II North Zone Conference at a function organised at the Lok Bhawan in Haryana.
Leading parliamentary leaders, MLAs and representatives of the legislatures from various states are participating in this three-day conference organised by the Haryana Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh from June 8 to 10, 2026. The objective of the conference is to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, promote exchange of best practices related to legislative and parliamentary procedure and promote meaningful discussions on important issues related to governance and public interest.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of environment protection and sustainable development, all the delegates travelled to Lok Bhawan in an electric bus. This initiative reflects the commitment to reduce carbon emissions and conserve natural resources.
The dignitaries honoured by the Governor included Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, West Bengal Legislative Assembly Speaker Rathinder Bose, Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, Punjab Legislative Assembly Speaker Sardar Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania and Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather along with Speakers, Deputy Speakers and other presiding officers of the Legislative Assemblies of various states.
On this occasion, Haryana Governor Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh and Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan planted saplings in the Lok Bhawan complex to convey the message of environment protection and sustainable development.
The program was attended by the First Lady of Haryana, Mrs. Mitra Ghosh, the wife of the Chief Minister of Haryana, Mrs. Suman Saini, Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr. Mahipal Dhanda, Development and Panchayat Minister, Mr. Krishan Panwar, along with the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, MLAs and Legislative Council members representing the five Legislative Assemblies of CPA India Region Zone-II.
