Chandigarh, September 16:- Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, while addressing a public meeting organised at Goluka village in Punjab’s Ferozepur district on Wednesday, said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has worked to give the country a new direction and accelerate the pace of development. From decisive action against terrorism to development and public welfare, the Central Government has taken several important steps in the national interest.
He said that the Seva Sankalp campaign is being launched across the country from September 17. On the occasion of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s birthday, to take the spirit of service and dedication to every household, light ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ in your respective homes between 6 pm and 7 pm on September 17 and pray for the long life of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Tribute Paid to Shaheed Udham Singh
On the occasion, Shri Nayab Singh Saini paid tribute to Shaheed Udham Singh and said that the land of Punjab has given many brave sons for the freedom of the country. The sacrifice of great revolutionaries like Shaheed Udham Singh will always be remembered by the nation. He said that even today society and the nation need such patriots who work with dedication for the national interest, society and humanity. He also paid tribute to the parents of Shaheed Udham Singh.
The Chief Minister said that he had the privilege of paying obeisance at Dera Baba Ram Thaman Ji Maharaj and receiving his blessings. The great tradition of Baba Ram Thaman Ji Maharaj has always carried forward the message of service, harmony and humanity.
Mention of Haryana’s Transparent System and Development
The Chief Minister said that the people of Punjab are hardworking, talented and self-respecting. Regarding the development of Punjab, he said that the people of the state need a government that focuses on providing development and employment opportunities with transparency.
Referring to Haryana, he said that more than 2 lakh government jobs have been provided in the state during the last approximately 12 years. A policy is being followed to provide employment to youth without any favouritism and with complete transparency. Taking a dig at the Punjab Government, he said that big promises had been made regarding employment for the youth in Punjab. Now the government should tell how many youths it has provided employment to. He alleged that complaints have surfaced in Punjab regarding relatives and close associates of the Chief Minister and legislators benefiting in government jobs, whereas the recruitment process in Haryana is being conducted on the basis of merit and transparency.
Procurement at MSP and Timely Payments in the Interest of Farmers
The Chief Minister said that procurement of crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) is being ensured in Haryana in the interest of farmers. Arrangements have been made to make payment for the sale of crops to farmers within 48 to 72 hours. In case crops are damaged due to natural calamities, farmers are being provided compensation as well as economic security through the Bhavantar scheme.
Emphasis on Strict Action Against Drugs and Guiding Youth in the Right Direction
The Chief Minister said that the drug problem in Punjab has become serious. He said complaints emerge of action being taken against those who raise their voice against drugs, whereas the government should take strict action against those selling drugs. He said that a task force has been formed in Haryana against drugs and strict action is being taken against drug sellers. Properties worth crores of rupees belonging to drug smugglers have been seized. Marathons and awareness programmes are also being organised to keep the youth away from drugs.
Women, Farmers and Common People Benefiting from Government Schemes
The Chief Minister said that the Haryana Government has taken steps towards fulfilling the promises made in its Sankalp Patra. Under the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, assistance of Rs 2,100 is being provided to women. The promise of providing gas cylinders for Rs 500 has also been fulfilled.
The Chief Minister said that through the Ayushman Chirayu Yojana, cards have been made for around 1.5 crore people in the state and treatment facilities of up to Rs 5 lakh are being provided. So far, around 40 lakh people have benefited from it.
He said that along with providing employment opportunities to the youth, action has also been taken against fraud committed in the name of sending people abroad and against the donkey route. A Foreign Cooperation Department has been established to send youth wishing to go abroad through safe and legal channels.
The Chief Minister said that Haryana’s youth are bringing laurels to the country in sports and are continuously winning medals. The land of Punjab has also given a large number of talented sportspersons to the country. He said that providing Punjab’s youth with the right direction, employment and a drug-free environment is the need of the hour.
